Jean René Bazaine

Jean René Bazaine (21st December, 1904 - 4th March 2001) was a French painter, designer of stained glass windows, and writer.
Bazaine studied sculpture at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and literature at the Sorbonne in Paris. His painting career begai with two trips to Italy that he took in 1924, and his first exhibition was in a 1930 group show which also included works by Jean Fautrier, Jean Pougny and Marcel Gromaire. He was subsequently encouraged by Pierre Bonnard.
Among his stained glass work is a set of seven windows inspired by the sacraments of the Catholic church, in the ambulatory of the ancient church of Saint-Séverin in Paris.
