It was released in July 1995 in Canada as promo, September 1995 in France & Belgium, and December 1995 in selected European countries. "Je Sais Pas" was written and produced by Jean-Jacques Goldman and J. Kapler.

Two music videos were made for this song: non-singing version and performance (singing) version, both of them were directed by Greg Masuak (1995). These music videos can be found on Céline's DVD On Ne Change Pas (2005). Edited versions of non-singing version were also used for "Next Plane Out" and "Call the Man" singles (none of them was released in France).

English version of this song, called "I Don't Know" was featured on Falling into You.

Live version of "Je Sais Pas" from Live à Paris was also released as a single, in May 1997 in Netherlands to promote that album.

The song was featured on Céline's greatest hits compilation On Ne Change Pas. Live version was a part of two other albums: Live à Paris and Au Coeur Du Stade.

"Je Sais Pas" was a smash hit in France, where it topped the singles chart for 7 weeks, and sold over 0.5 million copies. 1995 studio version peaked at #34 in Netherlands. Live version from 1997 reached # 78.
