Jazze Pha

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Phalon "Jazze Pha" Alexander (pronounced Jazzie Fay) (born 1975 in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American songwriter, rapper and record producer. His father is Bar-Kays bassist, James Alexander. He is named after the late Phalon Jones, a member of his father's group. However, contrary to widespread belief, he is not the son of legendary R&B and gospel singer, Deniece Williams.

If you think Deniece Williams is my mom, she’s not . . . My mom’s name is Denise Williams, and people twisted that and ran with it. Now, I get people who want to argue with me that say, "Yeah, that is your mama!" No, it’s not.

— Jazze Pha[1]

Professionally, Jazze Pha is known for his collaborations with Nelly, Ludacris, Trick Daddy, T.I. and Lil' Wayne, among others. He is also credited with bringing R&B singer Ciara national attention with her solo album, Goodies. His work on that album included producing the hit single, "1, 2 Step", which featured Missy Elliott.

Jazze Pha has signed a production deal with Cash Money Records, and also has his own record label, Sho'nuff, which signed Ciara and Jody Breeze.

[edit] Trademarks

Jazze Pha will often provide a spoken introduction to songs during the lead-in, with the phrase "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a Jazze Pha production", or "Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a Jazze Phizzle Productshizzle". This line appears with only slight variations on tracks such as "1, 2 Step", "Boogie Oogie Oogie","Errtime", "Looking At You", "Nasty Girl", "So What", "Get Up".
