[edit] The shiva protect sentence

I think its fine. As I remember Shankar Bhagwan granted all boons otherwise.Bakaman Bakatalk 00:56, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

If i remember correctly, it was Dronacharya who granted him his life and not Yudhishtara. I am changing this now, but correct me if i am wrong.nids(♂) 01:12, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

It is Yudhisthira who spared his life but he asked Draupadi on what to do with him. Draudpadi told Bhima not to kill him as that would make their cousin Dushalla a widow. Bhima then asked Yudhisthira how he can renege on his vow to kill him. Shri Krishna comes in and intervenes and tells Bhima and Arjuna to shave Jayadratha's head as humiliation in face of one's enemies is even worse than death. Thus, his life was spared because of three, Yudhisthira, Draupadi and Krishna.

[edit] Breif story

I am giving a breif story about him as i remember. If somebody can provide further references, i request him to enter this on the main page.

Drona and Jayadratha were students at the same gurukul and were best of friends. After their education, they parted ways. One day, drona went to see his old freind but was humiliated by him for his poverty. Then drona decided to take avenge. When he taught pandavas, he asked them to defeat Jayadratha as a token for his Gurudakshina.nids(♂) 01:18, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Jayadratha insulted Drona by saying that only equals can be friends. Drona returned half his kingdom back to him, and further humiliated him by saying that now they can be friends, since they have equal kingdoms.nids(♂) 01:22, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

Nids, this is incorrect. You may have mistaken Jayadratha for Draupada.

Ok. Thanks for the clarification.nids(♂) 01:33, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
