Jayam is a 2003 film. It was directed by M. Raja. It started the careers of Jayam Ravi and Sadha. It also stars Senthil, T. Gopichand, Mayilsamy, Suman Shetty and Ramesh Khanna. It was a mega box-office triumph. The film was a remake of a Telugu film with the same title. It won the Filmfare Best Movie Award South in the year of its release.

The story is centered in a village situation, where the parents of Sujatha (Sada) and Raghu (Gopichand) decide that both get married when they will become grownups, as they are first cousins. Sujatha grows to be an attractive college going girl, while the villain Raghu nurtures himself into a good for nothing character. Sujatha on her way to the college meets up with Ravi (Ravi), who is a poor but handsome enthusiastic boy and soon after their quarrels they fall in love with each other. Meanwhile Raghu’s parents, hoping that he will become a responsible person after marriage, decide to carryout his marriage with Sujatha. The whole scene takes a turn when Sujatha’s parents come to know about her love affair with Ravi. On the day of her marriage, Sujatha runs away with Ravi, soon the action gets hot as they are being chased by Raghu and his thugs.
