Jay Powell

James Willard Powell, also known as Jay Powell (b. January 9, 1972 in Meridian, Mississippi), is a former American baseball pitcher, who last played for the Atlanta Braves. He graduated from Mississippi State University. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles on two different occaisions in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft - once in 1990 and again in 1993. He has played for the Florida Marlins, Houston Astros, Colorado Rockies, and Texas Rangers before signing with the Atlanta Braves in January of 2005 . His last year was 2005 when he was injured in July of 2005, when he fractured his humerus. Thus, pitching again could lead to another fracture.
