Jay Harris (sportscaster)

Jay Harris (born 1965 in Norfolk, Virginia)is an American journalist who has worked for ESPN since February 2003. He is often seen as an anchor on ESPNEWS, the 6pm ET edition of SportsCenter, weekdays, often working with Brian Kenny and the Saturday morning SportsCenter along with Chris McKendry. He also often hosts the SportsCenter 30 at 30 Update. Prior to ESPN, Harris worked for many years at WPGH-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a news anchor. He also has morning radio experience at WAMO-FM also in Pittsburgh and WOWI-FM in Norfolk, Virginia.
Harris has several honors including: a Silver World Medal from the New York Festivals, a Robert L. Vann Award from the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation, an EXCEL Award from the Hampton Roads Black Media Professinals and he was honored in 2003 with a Distinguished Alumni Award from Old Dominion University. He was also, in 2004, the keynote speaker for Old Dominion's 100th commencement ceremony.
He is a 1987 graduate of Old Dominion University with a bachelor's degree in Speech Communication. He is also married with one child.
