Javanroud

Javanrud (Persian: جوانرود) is a city in the Kermanshah province of Iran. Its name in Persian means the young river or the river of the young.

An older name of Javanrud was Alani. Inhabitants are descendants of the Jaf tribe and speak Sorani Kurdish.

This county is bounded in the north and west to Pawah, in the south to Islam Abad and Sarpol-e-zahab, in theeast to Mariwan. According to 1375 census, Javanroud had a population of 73317 people. It consists of two districts: central and Javanrood, and six townships. The town of Javan rood 79 Kilometers North of Kermanshah is 1300 meters above sea level.
