Jason William Wood is a Major League Baseball utility infielder for the Florida Marlins. He was born on December 16, 1969 in San Bernardino, California. He throws and bats right handed. He is listed at 6'1" tall and 200 (one source says he weighed 170 pounds) pounds in weight. Wood attended McLane High School and then Fresno State University.

Originally, Wood was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 56th round (1333rd overall) of the 1988 June Regular Phase amateur entry draft. Opting not to sign with the Blue Jays, he was then drafted in the 39th round (1009th) of the 1990 June Regular Phase amateur entry draft by the Atlanta Braves. Still, he did not sign. Finally, after being drafted in the 11th round (308th) of the 1991 June Regular Phase amateur entry draft by the Oakland Athletics, he decided to sign.

Wood, who had fair power, started off his professional career on a bumpy road-in three out of his first five minor league seasons, he had a batting average in the .230s. He did improve after a few years, hitting .321 in 1997. Near the middle of October, 1997, Wood was granted free agency. About 10 days later, he was resigned by the Athletics.

On April 1, 1998, at the age of 28 with the Athletics, Wood made his big league debut. Overall, he hit .221 in the Majors over two years. In 68 at-bats, he hit two home runs. He had a career .961 fielding percentage.

Wood has bounced around the minor leagues since 1999. He was called up to the Florida Marlins in September, 2006 when rosters expanded. He appeared in his first game in more than seven years, pinch-hitting in the fourth inning of a game on September 9th and collecting a hit.
