Jason Shand

Jason Forbes Shand (born October 4, 1977 in Inverness) is a Scottish radio presenter who hosts a nightly show on Moray Firth Radio and co-presents Friday Night Live on MFR which both broadcast to the north of Scotland. All his shows can be heard on digital radio and online. Shand also has his own Podcast on the Internet called Simply Shandy.

Shand presents the Jason Shand Show on Moray Firth Radio 1107AM and online on the MFR Website Sunday to Thursday - 10PM to 1AM GMT. He can also be heard on Friday Night Live with Grant Hodgson on MFR from 10pm until 1am.
He started volunteering at Moray Firth Radio in 1994. The first show he worked on behind the scenes was The After-Midnight Phone-In which was broadcast on Sundays 12am-2am. Shand researched the lighter material for the show, along with being hands-on during the live show.
Two years later, in February 1996, Shand began producing the phone-in show. and was brought on-air on Friday Nite Time with Grant Hodgson. The two had previously worked together on a six-hour Christmas special in 1995.
In 1999 Grant Hodgson and Jason Shand were moved from Friday nights to Wednesday’s Nite Time on MFR. The move won them new listeners as the show changed from the Friday Nite Time format. When Moray Firth Radio was re-launched in January 2001 they returned to Friday nights with an all-new show called Friday Night Live, continuing to the present day.
On November 17, 2002 Shand was brought in to extend the hours of the Moray Firth Radio AM service. He would broadcast on Sunday to Thursday from 10pm until 1am, playing classic hits from sixties, seventies, eighties and nineties. His style is influenced by Moray Firth Radio’s Tich McCooey and Ray Atkinson as well as personal favourites like Ian Collins and Nick Abbot.

Over the years Shand has interviewed many people on his show, including Andy Scott (from Sweet), Donny Osmond (November 14, 2004), Barbara Dickson (of Bad Girls) and The Proclaimers (9 August 2005)
Features on the show include: "The Alphabet Game"; listeners can phone in, text in and email in and must get all 26 or as many words with the letters of the alphabet for a subject Shand comes up with. (Sunday); "Whats the Story" - Shand reads part of a recent news story and listeners guess what the story is about; "The Confuzzler", a question "to confuse and puzzle you" (every night); "The Jasonory" , where Shand reads a recent news story and tells jokes related to it (every night); "The Double-Play" where Shand gives the listeners a chance to decide which song from during the show shall be played at the end of the show and again on the next show, and "The MFR Single of the Week".
Shand sometimes does impersonations of celebrities, such as Sean Connery, Derek Acorah and George W. Bush. He has also sung live on the show, doing the Dean Martin song, "Let it Snow"..
