Jason Lee Middle School opened its doors to the public in September 1965. The first year had 812 students in attendance and 34 staff members. The school was named after the notable missionary and pioneer Jason Lee.

Jason Lee uses "The Morning Announcements" over classroom televisions on channel 16.

The misson of Jason Lee Middle School is to open doors to student success. By developing life long learners, responsible decision makers and caring and contributing members of society. Usually followed by the flag salute in "The Morning Announcements".

During the years from 2004 to 2006 Jason Lee has benn on local news station five different times.
- December 2004 - Fire located in a science lab
- March 17 2006 - A hoax about a stabbing including a boy and a supposed man in a purple truck.
- September 2006 - A sexually asault including a young girl on 9th avenue where Jason Lee is located. [1]
- October 2006 - A fight with two boys leads in one going to the hospital in an ambulance and the other arrested.
- October 2006 - A boy attacks an assistant principal and is arrested.
