Jason has been a role model for many youngsters who share his problem of being deaf. Although he is only deaf in his left ear, he has not let this disability stand in his way, he has been an embassador for the National Deaf Awareness in Sport Alliance for the past 7 years, attending various functions and fund raising events.

In his so far short spell at Middlesbrough, he has widely impressed, picking up a man of the match award in the process.
