Jason Class (LST)

Greek navy signed contract for construction of five LSTs by Elefsis Shipyard on 15 May 1986.The first laid down 18 April 1987, second in September 1987, third in May 1988, fourth April 1989 and fifth November 1989 but the completion of all five and in particular the last three, severely delayed by shipyard financial problems. The shipyard was privatised in October 1997 and progress has markedly improved since then. Combat data system is a refurbished German system.
