JASRAC

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

JASRAC (Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers) was established in 1939 as a non-profit making organization, and is the largest musical copyright administration society in Japan.

In 2006, a number of videos featuring songs or clips that violated the copyrights of Sony Japan, Avex Japan, Pony Canyon, JVC Victor, Warner Japan, Toy's Factory, and Universal Japan were taken down or deleted from YouTube.com as well as the accounts and profiles of the people holding the videos. An outcry emerged as these users were driven to the user account, JASRAC, for responsiblity for these flagged warnings. Many users think this person is not working for JASRAC at all and may just be doing this to make other users angry, but this is sheer speculation.
