[edit] Career in Finland

Jarmo Myllys who was born in Savonlinna naturally started playing ice hockey in the local team Savonlinnan Pallokerho or SaPKo. He played his first adult season (1982-1983) in SaPko but moved to Tampere for SM-Liiga games in Ilves. "Jamo" spent a total of 4 seasons (1983-1987) in Ilves and moved to Rauman Lukko and stayed in Rauma for 1 (1987-1988) season before moving to NHL

[edit] NHL career

Myllys was a very small goalie but managed to gain a spot in Minnesota North Stars lineup. Myllys played 6 games in 1988-1989 season and spent the most of it in the farmteam of Minnesota, Kalamazoo Wings which played in the IHL. In his 3 seasons (1988-1991) in North Stars Myllys did not play over 10 games/season but in the IHL Myllys got to play. When San Jose Sharks was formed in 1991 Myllys moved to San Jose with the majority of North Stars players. In the Sharks Myllys finally got a chance to prove his worth and played 27 games during the 1991-1992 season. Unfortunately this was to be his last in NHL as Myllys returned to Finland in 1992.

[edit] Return from NHL

In 1992 Myllys joined a 1 Divisioona team KooKoo which played in Kouvola. After one season in KooKoo Myllys went to Lukko and stayed there for 1993-1994 Season. After his two season tenure in Finland, Myllys was contracted to Luleå HF which is a Swedish team who plays in Elitserien.

[edit] Career in Elitserien

Myllys Established himself a star in Sweden and stayed in Luleå for 7 Seasons (1994-2001). During that time Myllys won several awards and played twice in the Elitserien All Star game. Myllys also scored a goal in an Elitserien game, which is a rare feat for Goalkeepers. After 2001 Myllys returned to Finland.

[edit] Return to Finland

Jarmo Myllys was signed by Espoon Blues in 2001. Myllys played in Espoo for 2 Seasons (2001-2003) but did not gain any success. After Blues, Myllys moved to SaiPa and played there firstly the 2003-2004 Season. Myllys quickly played in Elitserien at HV71 in the Play Offs and returned to SaiPa for his final season.
