Jared Yates

Jared Michael Yates Rivera (born June 27, 1986) is an American singer who was the 23rd-place semifinalist on the 4th season of American Idol.

Yates is from Fort Walton Beach, Florida, but moved to Danville, Illinois. He started singing when he was 14 while playing with his aunt's karaoke machine. He lives on a farm. He used to work at a mortuary. His house burned down on January 2, 2005. His favorite pop artists are Marc Anthony and Celine Dion. If he couldn't sing, he would love to be able to break dance.

Yates is Puerto Rican and African.

Yates was 18 years old when he auditioned during American Idol's St. Louis, Missouri open auditions. He sang Marc Anthony's "How Could I" during his Top 24 semi-finals performance. He was eliminated from the competition on February 23, 2005 along with Melinda Lira, Judd Harris, and Sarah Mather.
