Jar (station)

Jar is a station both for the Oslo T-bane and Oslotrikken located in Bærum, just west of Lysakerelven which divides Oslo and Bærum. The track is shared, the tram line (Lilleakerbanen) joins with the subway line (Kolsåsbanen) on the Oslo side of the river.

Formerly, the entire line to Kolsås was part of the tram network, but now the tram only goes to Jar. A turning loop has been constructed to allow the trams to turn.

The station is in need of an upgrade and essential maintenance work. The station will probably get a major facelift in 2009 as part of the NOK 750m development programme of the subway line.
