Forming in the later half of 2001, Japunga have fast grown a reputation as being an extremely powerful and brutal yet positive act. With each member having years of experience in the music industry, they have come together to form one of the most original heavy rock/metal acts in Australia. Singer/songwriter and guitarist Jef Carter has built the foundation of Japunga through life experiences.

Vocalist Jef Carter underwent emergency surgery after narrowly surviving a knife attack on the streets of Brisbane. This became the inspiration for the title track of Light at Days End. The first release from this album, "Never Again," has been heard on national and independent radio stations around Australia, including major stations Triple J and Triple M. Light at Days End has reached No. 6 on the A.I.R Charts.
