Japorea is a term that came in to use in the English speaking European-based media in reference to the FIFA World Cup that was held in both Japan and Korea. It was felt that using Japan & Korea or Korea/Japan was too long and did not flow off the tongue. Japorea was used as the use of Kor(ea)-(Jap)an would have blasphemed the Islamic holy book, the Qur'an.
