Japanese hardcore

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Japanese hardcore punk, often known as Japcore, refers to the fast-paced Japanese punk/hardcore genre. The original intent of Japcore was to protest the social and economic changes sweeping Japan in the 1980's and 1990's. GISM and The Stalin are considered by many to be the founding fathers of Japcore. Occasionally, Japcore artists will include elements of crust punk, visual kei, anarcho punk, horrorpunk, d-beat, and thrash metal in their songs. The lyrics often focus on social issues, such as nuclear weapons, poverty, and corruption caused by capitalism.
