Japanese cruiser Yubari

The Yubari (夕張) was a single light cruiser built between 1922 and 1923 for the Imperial Japanese Navy. The ship had a displacement of 2,890 tons, a length of 463 feet (141 meters) and was armed with six 5.5 inch guns with one 3 inch anti-aircraft gun and about two 25 mm anti-aircraft guns and four 24 inch torpedo tubes and could also carry up to 34 mines to tactical minelaying. The Yubari served during in the Pacific during World War II where she was the flagship of the Japanese invasion force during the invasion of Wake Island, during both invasion attempts on December 11, and December 23, 1941 where she was damgaed by U.S. Marine coastal guns during the first invasion attempt. The Yubari was sunk on April 27, 1944 off Palau by the U.S. submarine Bluegill.
