A comparison of common Japanese gothic typefaces:

  • MS Gothic and MS PGothic are distributed by Microsoft with its Windows Operating System
  • Osaka is distributed by Apple with Mac OS X
  • Kochi Gothic is included with many Linux distributions
  • Hiragino Kaku Gothic, Hiragino Maru Gothic, and Kozuka Gothic are distributed by Adobe. These fonts come in multiple weights, with both lighter and bolder versions than those shown.
