A comparison of common Japanese gothic typefaces:

MS Gothic and MS PGothic are distributed by Microsoft with its Windows Operating System
Osaka is distributed by Apple with Mac OS X
Kochi Gothic is included with many Linux distributions
Hiragino Kaku Gothic, Hiragino Maru Gothic, and Kozuka Gothic are distributed by Adobe. These fonts come in multiple weights, with both lighter and bolder versions than those shown.
