Janie Jones

Janie Jones was a famous madam in London in the 1970s. The cabaret singer was imprisoned in 1973 for her involvement in 'controlling prostitutes'.
She is the subject of a song by The Clash, called Janie Jones, released in 1977 [1]. This song was covered in 2005 on the collaborative album Slackness (album) by The Slackers and Chris Murray. It was covered again by Babyshambles, featuring contributions from others, in 2006 and released by Joe Strummer's charity record label Strummerville.
Janie Jones, herself, recorded a single backed up by The Clash, called "House of the Juju Queen", under the name Janie Jones & The Lash. She had been a pop singer in the 1960s, her best results coming from the cackling novelty number "Witches Brew" which peaked at number 46 in the UK charts [2].
