Jane Comer Gilfillan

Jane Comer Gilfillan is a South Carolina politician from York County. She is the daughter of JB Comer and Doris Smith Comer from Hickory Grove, South Carolina. Her father served as a Democrat on the York County Council, (District 3) from 1980 until his death in November 1990. Governor Carroll A. Campbell, Jr. appointed her to fill his vacancy. As part of the agreement, she was not to run for immediate re-election, but could run in any race after the immediate. In 1992, Harold Dickson was elected. However, in 1994, she defeated Dickson and a write-in candidate. She won every election until 2002 when she was toppled by York School Board member T. Steve McNeely by only 73 votes.

While on the Council, Gilfillan was chair of the Justice & Public Safety Committee and serves on the Public Works and Planning & Economic Development Committees and served on the Piedmont West Urgent Care Center Advisory Board

She currently teaches in York's public school District #1.

Gilfillan is a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of York and serves on the Piedmont West Urgent Care Center Advisory Board and the PTO in York School District 1.

On June 24, 1974, she married Terry Gilfillan. They had two sons.
