Jana of the Jungle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jana of the Jungle was an American Saturday morning cartoon series produced by Hanna-Barbera as part of The Godzilla Power Hour for NBC in 1978. Doug Wildey, the creator of Jonny Quest, created Jana and produced character designs for the series.
Essentially a female version of Tarzan, Jana (voiced by B.J. Ward) traversed the rain forests of South America in search of her lost father. She wore a dress made of unspecified animal skin and a necklace which doubled as a throwable weapon given to her by her father. Besides her animal friends, Ghost the albino jaguar and Tiko the coatimundi (the latter more resembled a yapok), Jana had two human friends: Dr. Ben Cooper (Michael Bell) and Montaro (Ted Cassidy), who was armed with the Staff of Power that could cause earthquake shockwaves when it struck the ground.
