Jan Żabiński

Jan Żabiński (b. 8 April 1897, Warsaw - d. 26 July 1974, Warsaw) was Polish zoologist, zootechnician, Righteous Among the Nations.

He was director of the Warsaw Zoo before the war and additionally superintendent of the city's public parks under the Nazis. He helped hiding Jews together with his wife Antonina and their son Ryszard. He fought during the Warsaw Uprising, was injured and became prisoner of war. Has written about 60 popular science books.
