Or, if you'd like, just putter around. Find some articles on a topic that interests you. Check something that you know a good deal about. Or look at something you have no knowledge in, and check for readability. If you can't understand, just mention it on a talk page, or try to clean the writing. There's always (always) things to do at Wikipedia:Cleanup, and I'd suggest monitoring Wikipedia:Votes for deletion as well, since some of the things listed there just need a good rewrite or three. Anyway, if you'd like any help, just check any of the following:
- Experiment in the sandbox
- Find out how to name a new page at Wikipedia:Naming Conventions
- For article instructions, visit the Manual of Style or How to edit a page
- Any questions can be posted at the Village pump
It's good to have you with us. Thanks for helping. Meelar 08:13, 21 Jan 2004 (UTC) P.S. You can sign your name by using three tildes in a row, like this: ~~~. Four will sign your name with a timestamp.
Thanks for the tip. It sure beats typing in a whole bunch of stuff like I've been doing ^_^; James Trainor
Hi James, and welcome to Wikipedia. Please use the summary field when commenting on what you've changed in an article (I've removed your comment from European Union). If everyone was adding comments to the articles themselves, the articles would soon become very difficult to read. :-) The comments from the summary field can be viewed in the "Page history". If you feel something needs a comment before you make any changes, you can use the article's discussion page. - Kåre Thor Olsen (Kaare) 19:10, 21 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Is this the "talk" section attached to every page? James Trainor 21:10, 21 Jan 2004 (UTC)
- Yes, every page has a corresponding talk/discussion page. Don't forgot to take a look at the pages mentioned by Meelar at the top of this talk page; e.g. How to edit a page. - Kåre Thor Olsen (Kaare) 01:41, 24 Jan 2004 (UTC)
