Jamie McCarthy (born November 12, 1990) is a footballer, currently playing for Hamilton Academical.
He made his debut against Queen of the South as a substitute on the 30th of September 2006, becoming the youngest player to play for Hamilton Academical this century. His first start came against Airdrie United on the 11th of November 2006, a day before his 16th birthday.
He has attracted interest from clubs such as Aston Villa, FC Barcelona, Bolton Wanderers, Celtic, Chelsea, Deportivo de La Coruña, Liverpool, Manchester United and Rangers.
Despite being born in Scotland, he has opted to play for the Republic of Ireland to keep a promise he made to his dying grandfather. He is due to play for Ireland's under-17's team versus Italy on January the 19th 2007.
