[edit] Biography
[edit] Personal life
Spears was born in McComb, Mississippi and grew up in Kentwood, Louisiana, with her parents, Jamie and Lynne (now divorced). She is the younger sister of dance-pop singer Britney Spears, and also has an older brother, Bryan Spears, who is one of her sister's managers. When Jamie Lynn was still a baby she moved to New York City with her mother and father to help her sister's music career. Jamie Lynn still lives in Kentwood and currently attends Parklane Academy, located in McComb, Mississippi, where she is a high school sophomore and also a cheerleader[1]. She has a dog named "Bo" which used to be referred to as "Beau." During the summer she goes to California to film Zoey 101 and this year 2006 she will stay filming until January and then head back home.
[edit] Career
Jamie-Lynn appeared in 2001's Total Britney Live and in a Pepsi television commercial in 2002. In the same year, she appeared briefly in the movie Crossroads, as the younger version of the main character, Lucy, who was played by her older sister.
For two seasons, Spears was a cast member on the comedy-variety show All That on Nickelodeon. While on All That she also did many On-Air Dare (a Nickelodeon version of Fear Factor) skits where she was doused with 10,000 raw eggs, had to drink human sweat, and eat blue cheese dressing, among other disgusting acts. She eventually left the All That in 2004 to star in Zoey 101, another Nickelodeon series.
Spears also sings the theme song for Zoey 101, entitled "Follow Me" (which was written by her sister, Britney). She stars as one of the first girls to enter a formerly all-boy boarding school. Zoey 101 drew record numbers with the premiere of the show, which gave the channel 1.6 million viewers aged 9-14, its biggest viewership in the demographic for a premiere in eight years. Zoey 101 was nominated for a 2005 Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program. In 2006, Spears won a Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards for Favorite Female TV Star and Favorite TV Female Actress. It is rumoured that Jamie is working on her debut album, which is due out sometime in 2007, she describes it to be a pop album.
