Jamestown High School (often abbreviated to JHS) is a public high school located in Jamestown, New York. It is the sole public high school within the city limits of Jamestown and educates high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Its school colors are red, green, and white and its mascot is a cartoon Native American man carrying a tomahawk.

  • 1867 - Jamestown High School is established.

  • 1934 - Jamestown High School is erected.
  • November 15, 1935 - The high school is reconstructed.
  • 1984-1987 - The high school goes through moderization and reconstruction, including a new gym.
  • 1994 - The Red Raider Football wins the State Championship.
  • 1995 - The Red Raider Football wins the State Championship.
  • Thanksgiving 1995 - The Red Raider Marching Band marched as the "Santa Band" in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
  • Fall 2004 - The Jamestown Tech Academy is opened for classes for students at Jamestown high school.

In addition to the standard topics of history, math, science, and english, Jamestown High School teaches courses covering many different areas of art and music. It also offers college-level courses via the Advanced Placement Program in a variety of subjects that allow students to receive university credit. The Advanced Placement Program is very good at Jamestown and continues to produce high pass rates on the Advanced Placement Exams.

Jamestown High School's music program is among the most widely-recognized in the region. In past years, the Marching Band has been invited to participate in the Rose Bowl and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parades. Its choral program, led by the A'Cappella Choir, has toured throughout the United States and Europe.

The different braches of the music department are the Concert Band currently under the direction of Mark Lentsch; the Symphonic Band under Meghan Bolling; Concert Orchestra under Katie Cierlicki; The Mixed Chorus, Girls Chorus, and A'Cappella Choir under Norman Lydell.

The Marching band is currently presenting the show "Four" Across New York, the championship will be on October 29th 2006 in Syracuse, New York.

The A'Cappella Choir will be traveling to Washington D.C. this coming March to serenade visitors and locals to the area.

Jamestown High School is home to several teams which compete under the name "Red Raiders". They participate in sports such as football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, track and field, bowling, gymnastics, and others. Its most prominent area is football, with the varsity football team having won the New York State championship multiple times. It has also been ranked among the top 25 in the nation. Though recently, the football team has taken a slump the past few years, ending with a 2-0-8 record this year.

The basketball team has been very successful the past few years, winning the ECIC championship various times, with the most recent championship coming this year.
