James W. Lewis was convicted of extortion in relation to the 1982 Tylenol scare. He had sent a letter to Johnson & Johnson demanding $1 million for him to stop the cyanide-induced murders. It was later decided there was not enough evidence he had anything to do with the actual killings, though many still consider him a viable suspect. He served 13 years of a 20-year sentence and was released in 1995 on parole.
