James Sherwin

James T. Sherwin attended Stuyvesant High School, Columbia College BA 1953 and Columbia Law School 1956. He became an attorney at a New York law firm and then a corporate executive at GAF Corporation, Triangle Industries and again at GAF Corporation as Vice Chairman from 1985 to 1990.

In 1991 Mr. Sherwin was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Hunter Douglas N.V., a Dutch multinational company, in which capacity he served until 1999. He is presently a Director of that Company and an advisor to its Management Company. He resides with his wife Hiroko, a writer and painter, in Bath, England. They have six daughters, Yoko, Miranda, Alison, Mako, Aiko and Galen and three grandchildren.

Mr. Sherwin is an International Chess Master. He tied for third in the US Chess Championship four times. He was Intercollegiate Champion and New York State Champion in 1951 and US Speed Champion in 1956-57 and 1959-60.
