James Scarlett, 8th Baron Abinger

Lieutenant-Colonel James Richard Scarlett, 8th Baron Abinger, KStJ, DL (born September 28, 1914, died 2002) was the son of Hugh and his wife Marjorie.
The 8th Baron was educated at Eton and Magdalene College, Cambridge, and became a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery. In 1968, he was appointed Deputy Lieutenant for Essex. The 8th Baron was also the Vice-President of the Byron Society, and a Knight of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem.
He married Isla Carolyn Rivett-Carnac in 1957, and had issue:
- James Harry (born 1959), who succeeded his father on his death.
- The Honourable Peter Richard Scarlett (born 1961)
