James Russell Wiggins

James Russell Wiggins (December 4, 1903 in Luverne, MinnesotaNovember 19, 2000 in Brooklin, Maine) was the managing editor of The Washington Post from 1947 to 1966. He was president of the American Society of Newspaper Editors in 1959-60. James served as United States ambassador to the United Nations from 1968 to 1969 during the Lyndon Johnson presidency. In 1969 Wiggins received a LL.D. from Bates College.
