James Robertson (loyalist)

James Robertson was the civil governor of New York from 1779 to 1783. He served in the British Army and rose to the rank of Major General in 1777. He became Governor in 1779 and came to New York in 1780. Leaving for England, he was replaced by Lieutenant Governor Andrew Elliot in 1783.
