James Reddy Clendon

James Reddy Clendon was a signatory to the Treaty of Waitangi.
From the New Zealand National Register of Archives and Manuscripts:
- Clendon was the first United States Consul to New Zealand, 1839- 1841 and a member of the first New Zealand Legislative Council, 1841- 1844. As a trading master he visited New Zealand a number of times and purchased land in Okiato, Bay of Islands in 1830. He built a prosperous trade there until the Governor took over the land for the first capital.
James Reddy Clendon is a descendant of William Clendon of Wellingborough, tanner, 1460.
