James Ray

There have been several prominent figures in United States history named James Ray:
- James B. Ray (1794-1848) was governor of Indiana
- James Earl Ray (1928-1998) was the assassin of Martin Luther King Jr.
- James Ray is a founding member of James Ray And The Performance, a rock band with ties to goth rock. James Ray has also formed the bands James Rays Gangwar, The MK Ultra, and his current band 4080peru. Most of his songs are available for free download from his website.
- James Ray was a black singer from the early 60s, whose biggest hit "If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody" was covered 2 years later by Freddie & the Dreamers. He was known to the Beatles, especially George Harrison who discovered the song "Got My Mind Set On You" from Ray's only album. John Lennon was also a fan and included the first named song on his Jukebox, issued as a double CD in 2004 after it was purchased at an auction.
