James Perch

James Perch (born 28 September 1985) is a versatile English footballer who currently plays for Nottingham Forest.
Perch was born in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and is a product of the hugely successful Nottingham Forest academy and has played over 50 games for The Reds. He is very versatile, like team mate John Thompson, and has played in a number of different positions at the City Ground. Though he started off a striker in the Forest academy, he was moved to right-back as a cover and played well there. The right-back position stuck for a while, but when he broke into the first team, he played as a central defender. Early in the 2005/2006 season he found himself at left-back to cover for an injured John Curtis, but has since gone on to play in a more defensive midfield role, and also played on both wings.
He settles down well wherever he plays and also picks up a few goals every now and again. James Perch scored his first ever goal against Derby Reserves, a fantastic 50 yard volley past goalkeeper James Pickering. Perch later admitted to Sacha Stephenson in the Daily Mail that the goal was a fluke and he was infact trying to put the ball out of play for his team mate Richard Woodward who is better known as A-Force.
In April 2006, against Bournemouth, Perch almost scored what could have been one of the goals of the season. It was a brilliantly athletic bicycle kick that was, unfortunately for Perch, matched by the Bournemouth keeper.
