James Ormond (born August 20, 1977 in Coventry) is an English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who has also taken, of late, to being an effective off-spinner.

Ormond made his first-class debut in 1995 and initially represented England at Under-19 level, before going on the England A tour of Kenya and Sri Lanka before his Test debut against Australia in 2001. Incidentally this was also the last Test in which Michael Atherton played.

Despite having only played 2 Tests, Ormond is still known for his part in one of the best Ashes sledges of all time: “Mate, what are you doing out here? There's no way you're good enough to play for England.” (Mark Waugh)....“Maybe not, but at least I'm the best player in my own family.” (Ormond's reply) He has also recently extended his contract with Surrey which will take him to the end of the 2007 campaign.

James is known as Jimmy.
