James N. Robey

James N. Robey was elected in 1998 and 2002 as County Executive of Howard County, Maryland. He was the Chief of Police for the Howard County Police Department, an agency where he spent 31 years.

James N. Robey was born on January 18, 1941 and raised in the small Howard County mill town of Daniels, once located on the banks of the Patapsco River. He attended Howard High School and graduated with the class of 1959. Executive Robey holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland University College where he was recognized as the 2002 Distinguished Alumnus for his career-long dedication and commitment to public service. He also holds a Masters Degree in Administrative Management from Hood College and is a graduate of both the FBI's National Academy and its Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar.

James N. Robey is campaigning as a Democrat against Republican incumbent State Sen. Sandra Schrader for her seat in the State Senate representing Maryland Senate District 13 in 2006. Robey won with 56% of the vote.
