James (Hernandez) Mathison is an Australian television presenter.

James was born January 1978 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He attended St. Augustine's College, Brookvale, where he was named school captain in his final year. After leaving school, he worked in menial jobs before spending a year on exchange in Ecuador. [citation needed]

In 2000, James was a contestant on the reality TV show The $20 Challenge, during which he was shown busking on the streets of London for extra money. His confidence and enthusiasm was arguably what won him second place in "The $20 Challenge".

James entered the Channel [V] "Reporter Search" competition, landing him a spot in the [V] team, hosting whatuwant, '50 Minutes', and Easy Rider.

In 2003, James became co-host (with Channel [V] co-star Andrew G) of Australian Idol.

James appeared on a celebrity episode of the Australian version of Ready Steady Cook in October 2005, in which he was declared the winner. In 2005 and 2006, James hosted the ARIA Music Awards.
James was one of the co-hosts of the televised Australia Day-eve celebrations on 25 January 2006. He also appeared as a contestant on Australia's Brainiest TV Presenter.

James is highly praised for both his humility and his talent by his co-stars. Andrew G describes James as one of his heroes, that "he's a genius in front of the camera, yet completely downplays any ability when away from it. He can do anything, yet acts like it's his first day on the job when people compliment him."[1]
James names Keith Richards amongst his idols and his favourite career highlight was interviewing The Rolling Stones in Chicago.
James is a supporter of NRL team the Manly Sea Eagles.
James is also the guitarist in Sydney band The Punisherz.

He has been linked to socialite Lisa Donohoe, a prominent figure in the Melbourne social scene. [citation needed]
