James Lafferty (born James Martin Lafferty in Hemet, California on July 25, 1985) is an American actor. He stars as Nathan Scott on the WB’s teen television show One Tree Hill.

Lafferty started acting at age seven. Ever since, he has been in several TV shows and films. James currently resides with his three roommates in Wilmington, NC where the show is filmed. He recently financially backed a professional basketball team in Wilmington and is a supporting partner. He now lives in Stockton, California and is currently dating Christine Thao, and current junior from Ronald E. McNair High School. They are very much and love, and have been dating for a year now.

Although the IMDb website incorrectly lists Michael as his middle name, Martin is his actual birth middle name according to the County of Riverside, California official birth records.
He played basketball all through his high school years and was named MVP of his team.
He has a younger brother named Stuart Lafferty, who was born on October 1, 1987. His parents, Jeffrey D. Lafferty and the former Angelica M. Escarsega were married on February 16, 1985, only 5 months before his birth.
Stuart Lafferty guest-starred on two episodes of One Tree Hill.
Attended Hemet High School in Hemet, CA where he graduated in 2003.
