James Harvey Logan (1841-1928) was a judge in Santa Cruz, California.

Besides business interests Logan was served as a district attorney in the 1870s and as a Superior Court Judge during the 1880s and 1890s. It is probable that the loganberry originated from his garden and was therefore named after him.
