James Dudley

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

James Dudley (born 1911 - June 2004) was a worker for the World Wide Wrestling Federation. He was inducted into the WWF Hall of Fame in 1994.

For years, Dudley worked with The McMahons in a backstage job starting with the Capital Wrestling Federation working for Jess McMahon, who was the grandfather of current WWE chairman Vince McMahon.

Then he worked in the WWWF where he became friends with Vincent J. McMahon, who is the father of current WWE chairman Vince McMahon. When Vince, Sr. asked Dudley to manage the site of WWE’s broadcasts, the Turner Arena in Washington, DC, history was made. No other African-American had ever run a major arena in the United States.

In the nation’s capitol, Dudley became a psuedo-celebrity, exciting crowds when he ran out to the ring, waving a towel, before fellow Hall of Famer Bobo Brazil’s matches there.
