James Cook High School is a State Co-Ed Secondary School in the South Auckland suburb of Manurewa.

James Cook High School was opened in February 1968.

It was the first school to hire police officers to be staff members for drug trafficing in the school grounds.[citation needed]

  • James Cook High School has sported many high Profile athletes over the years including Joe Rokocoko, Joe Ngalavao and Scott Dixon
  • James Cook was also known as a basketball powerhouse in South Auckland, producing NBL star Prem Krishna and Poutu Pitman Edwards.
  • James Cook has also produced college gridiron prospect Tuaine Fitzgerald who has been offered scholarships to Alcorn State and Penn State
