James Cassidy was one of the founding members of the band Information Society. He worked with the band from its beginning in the early 1980s until 1992 and the release of Information Society's final album as a trio, Peace and Love, Inc.

Cassidy left the music business altogether, and is currently a professor of Soil Science and runs the wildly popular OSU Organic Growers Club http://cropandsoil.oregonstate.edu/organic_grower/index.html at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.

He has recently returned to the music business to work on new material with a new InSoc lineup with Paul Robb.
