Field Marshal Sir Charles Archibald James Halkett Cassels , GCB, KBE, DSO (1907-1996) was Chief of the General Staff, the professional head of the British Army, between 1965 and 1968. Earlier he was BGS of 21st Army Group during World War II, commanded the 1st Commonwealth Division during the Korean War and the British Army of the Rhine from 1960 to 1963. He and his father General Sir Robert Archibald Cassels had the unusual distinction of both being generals on the active list in the same war.
