Other noted members of the ruling dynasty are Makhdoom Hussain Mahmood and Makhdoom Iqbal Mahmood, the second and third sons of Makhdum-ul-mulk Ghulam Miran Shah. Makhdoom Iqbal Mahmood was murdered in a young age by political rivals. They were appreended, but pardoned by the then president of the Islamic republic of Pakistan General Zia-ul-Haq in exchange for a huge bribe.
Makhdoom Iqbal Mahmood is survived by sons Makhdoom Ashraf Iqbal and Makhdoom Sadruddin, and by daughter Samia who is married to Malik Tariq Hassan, a busnessman from Lahore.
After the death of Ghulam Miran Shah, the Makhdoom family of Jamal Din Wali went into family rivalry with some senior cousins occupying most ofthe lands. The death of Iqbal Mahmood was a blow to his side of the family because at that time his sons were little boys and his daughter was a toddling infant. It was with the support of Hussain Mahmood, their paternal uncle, that they were able to gain most of their property from the hands of their related land grabbers.
Today the family of Jamal Din Wali stands as an ethical symbol that supports the poor farm workers of the local and adjoining villages. All the villagers of that area respect that family and are wiling to lay down their lives for their protection, for they believe that without this family they are nothing.
