It is a place famous for weaving, especially sarees. Many don't know about this place, but all the major sellers are buying sarees only from Jalakandapuram and two more towns(Vanavasi and Elampillai). These two places are located nearer to Jalakandapuram only.

Lot of local festivals are conducted here reflects Tamilian culture. There are very booming for Modern textile machines and products. Towns total eceonomic depends on Handlooms and Powerlooms and Textile mills. In concerning Agriculture, the main farming on Cotton, Ragi, Cornflower. In milk production it is a great collection area.
