Jaime Rodríguez

Jaime Alberto Rodríguez (born 17 January 1959) is a former soccer player from El Salvador who represented his country at the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain.

From a very early age on, he was very skilful and talented and after being selected by Alianza F.C. began a prolific career in soccer becoming a legend in El Salvador although not highly as rated compared to Mágico González. He continued playing internationally between 1982-1990 including the 1982 World Cup Finals in Spain.

After retiring from soccer he started a coaching career at Alianza F.C. but was sacked in 2002. Since then he has been a strong advocate for improvement in soccer organisations and programs in El Salvador. Recently, Jaime has been appointed as the Coordinator of the Salvadoran national football teams. He has also travelled to Melbourne, Australia with a youth team playing friendly games against local salvadorean soccer clubs, Cuzcatlan and Kensington soccer clubs played a friendly match in which he took part.

Jaime ("La Chelona") Rodríguez has participated in a charity match to raise funds for earthquake victims in his native El Salvador.

The defender played professionally for different clubs around the world. Among these were El Salvador's Alianza F.C., Mexico's Club Léon, and Germany's Bayer Uerdingen. He also played for teams in Japan's Yokohama Flugels and Finland's KPV scoring 4 goals in 18 games during 1984-1985.
